About
Introducing the Family Zone, a dedicated retreat from the main stage crowds.
This year, we give special thanks to the Whidbey Island Waldorf School teachers and staff for hosting the Family Zone space with dedicated volunteer time and love. Designed as a gentle, sensory-friendly haven, this is a place for children and their caregivers to pause, recharge, and connect. Whether you are looking for a moment of quiet or a burst of creativity, the Family Zone offers the perfect environment for you and your family to slow down and enjoy the festival together at your own pace.
A note: Because the Family Zone is a shared space designed for you to explore together, we require that children remain accompanied by a parent or caregiver at all times. If you are looking for a supervised drop-off option for your 4-10 year olds, check out Little Big KidsFest, which runs three sessions on Saturday, August 15 at the South Whidbey Community Center, a short distance from the festival grounds. Registration is separate from your festival pass. We look forward to creating, playing, and marching with you!
Family Zone Hours:
- Fri Aug 14: 3:00pm - 8:00pm
- Sat Aug 15: 10:00am - 8:00pm
- Sun Aug 16: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Sunday Midday Parade begins at the Family Zone at 1:45pm.
Explore our zones:
Craft Station: Unleash your imagination! Stop by to create your very own parade-friendly props. These projects are designed for all ages to enjoy, and we would love for you to bring your handmade creations to join us in the official Sunday Midday Parade. Thank you to Casey's Crafts for supporting.
Cozy Corner: Need a gentle pause? Settle into our Cozy Corner, a peaceful nook featuring a rocking chair, rug, and a handful of books, perfect for quiet exploration or simply relaxing with your little ones.
Free Engagement Area: Courtesy of our friends at The Backyard LLC, this small, shaded outdoor space is designed specifically for child-friendly movement and open-ended play. It is the ideal spot for kids to stretch their legs and explore in a safe, interactive environment.
