Little BIG Fest

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Little BIG Fest is operated by LittleBIGFest 501(c)3. This policy explains what the Little BIG Fest app collects, why, and what we do not collect. It covers the mobile app and the website at app.littlebigfest.org.

The short version

You do not need an account to use this app. We do not ask for your name, your email address, or your phone number. We do not know who you are, and we do not want to.

What the app stores

Your saved schedule. When you save a show, the app records that show's identifier. Nothing else. This is stored on your own device, and a copy is kept on our server so your saved schedule survives if your browser clears its storage or you reinstall the app.

That server copy is tied to a random identifier held in a cookie on your device. It is not connected to your name, your email, or any account, because there is no account. We cannot tell whose saved schedule is whose. If you clear your cookies, the link is broken. The one way to restore it is the sync code shown on the Sync your Schedule screen, which also lets you use the same saved schedule on another device.

Reminders. Reminders are opt-in. You can arm an alert for an individual show, or turn on a setting that arms an alert automatically for every show you add (this setting defaults to off). Either way, the app asks for notification permission the first time you actually arm an alert, not before. You choose how far ahead the reminder fires, 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes before the show starts (15 minutes by default). Reminders are scheduled directly on your device and never leave it. There is no push server, and we are not told which reminders you have or whether you opened them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

What we measure

We use Google Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate: which pages people visit, which features get used, how many people are using the app during the festival. This tells us things like whether people are finding the map, not who found it.

Google Analytics collects standard web analytics data, including your device and browser type, an approximate location derived from your IP address (city level, not precise), and a randomly generated analytics identifier. This data is handled under Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Our servers also keep short-lived request logs, including IP addresses, which we use to keep the service running and to limit abuse.

When the app hits an error, it sends an anonymous report to Google Analytics containing the error message and which page it happened on, so we can find and fix bugs. This report does not include your name, your saved shows, or anything else about you.

What we do not collect

To be explicit, the app does not collect any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
  • Your precise or GPS location. The app does not request location access at all
  • Your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, or health data
  • Push notification tokens or device advertising identifiers
  • Payment information. Ticket purchases happen on the festival website, not in the app

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for advertising or for tracking you across other apps and websites.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf and only for that purpose:

  • Amazon Web Services, which hosts the app and stores the anonymous saved-schedule backups
  • Google Analytics, as described above
  • Google Fonts, which serves the app's typefaces. Loading a font from Google's servers means Google sees standard request data such as your IP address, the same as any request to any web server

Children

The festival is family friendly and the app includes family programming, so children may use it. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect personal information at all. There is no sign-up, no profile, and no way for a child to submit information to us.

Your choices

  • Saved schedule. Unsaving a show removes it. Clearing the app's storage or your browser data removes everything stored locally, and clearing cookies detaches you from the server backup.
  • Reminders. Turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
  • Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on, or by using your browser's or device's tracking protection.
  • Requests. To ask about data associated with your device, or to request deletion, email us at support@littlebigfest.org. Because everything is anonymous, we may need the device identifier from your cookie to find anything, and without it we will not be able to locate any data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and post the new version here.
